
Doorway to Paradise competition: 2005
The door uses simple manufacturing techniques. Using coloured acrylic, capillary action creates seamless welds for the door’s resistant finish. These cells provide an infinity of constantly changing coloured quadrants for a refracted view.
The inclusion of different colours in the layering process means the door fits with a variety of interior and exterior architectural settings. Solid blocks are bonded together so colour changes and blends into the next, creating a fascinating kaleidoscopic spectrum.
Designed to capitalise on the original form and beauty of refractive coloured elements, the concept draws on light, geometric shapes, crystals, opacity and transparency.
